Treaty of Active Explorers

Te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) governs the relationship between Māori and Pakeha (non-Māori), and ensures their rights are protected. New Zealand education is largely based on the treaty and so is our teaching practice. This month, all our children were invited to wear a korowai and sign the Treaty of Active Explorers that they made. This role play has been our annual tradition.
