The Challenges of Threading

One of our beautiful tamariki at Active Explorers Blockhouse Bay enjoying the challenges of threading.  Threading supports our children to develop their fine motor skills through the early years, experimenting with practicing gaining control of their bodies, persisting with challenges and building fine motor skills. 

The actions used for threading build the muscles in their wrists, hands and fingers providing them opportunities to practice small and precise movements.  All of these skills are needed throughout their lifelong journey of learning and heading to kura where they will continue to be immersed in the wonderful world of written literacy.
