Rugby Fever

27 September 2019

The World Cup is in full swing, and Kiwis across the nation are caught up in the fever.

Earlier this month the children at Active Explorers Mayfair got in on the action with a special visit from two Hawkes Bay Magpies, Deven and Stacey.

Tamariki from Nurtured and Active Explorers Mayfair donned their best black and white rugby gear and enjoyed a session practicing their ball passing skills, throwing, kicking, and running with the ball.

“We even tried a scrum and a line out,” says centre manager Selina Hargreaves.

“It was such great fun for children of all ages. Our tamariki discovered new interests and skills, as well as an enjoyment of rugby.”

To cap off the event children had the chance to have their photos taken with Deven, Stacey, and the ‘Magpie’ that had been created by some of Active Explorer’s youngest tots.

“It was such an awesome morning. Thanks for all of your mahi tamariki. You worked hard!”
