Lollipops Papamoa Celebrates Maori Language Week
13 September 2019

Maori Language Week is a great opportunity for kaiako and tamariki to deepen their understanding of Aotearoa’s bicultural heritage.
This week the children at Lollipops Papamoa have been getting creative and learning about Maori language, culture and customs.
Says centre manager Toni Thorne: “We have been out collecting harakeke (flax) and have made beautiful harakeke manu (birds) and putiputi (flowers). Before cutting the harakeke, we also say a special karakia.”
