Meet our Centre Manager

Kia ora

My name is Anita Vohra, and I’ve been working in early childhood education for over 15 years. I fell in love with the profession after relieving in a few centres when I first arrived in New Zealand and went on to complete a Bachelor of Education (ECE).

I love working with children and, as a Centre Manager, also enjoy supporting teachers and overseeing operations. Our passionate, multicultural team sets our centre apart, along with strong planning and a focus on each child’s interests. I believe in hands-on learning, strong whānau partnerships, and celebrating diversity. In my spare time, I enjoy long walks, reading, and spending time with my dog.

About Lollipops Newton

At Lollipops Newton, we focus on nurturing each child’s individual potential through strong partnerships with families. Our philosophy, "Poipoia te kakano kia puawai", emphasises that with the right care, every child will bloom.

Our purpose-built centre offers spacious, homely rooms, plenty of outdoor space, and a stimulating environment that encourages creativity, exploration, and social development. We provide healthy meals, regular yoga sessions, and community walks that connect children to nature and the local community.

Children are grouped according to their developmental stage, with tailored programs for infants (0-2), toddlers (2-3.5), and young learners (3.5-5). Our curriculum focuses on school readiness, emotional growth, and independence, ensuring your child is prepared for their next big step.

Our Rooms

Our centre features three dedicated learning rooms, each designed to meet the unique needs of different age groups. Children enjoy free-flow access between indoor and outdoor areas, encouraging exploration and connection with nature. Our outdoor spaces are safe, clean, and full of exciting learning opportunities.

0–2 years

Kākano

This room is designed for our youngest learners, offering a calm, nurturing environment where infants can explore, interact, and develop their early motor skills. The space is filled with soft, sensory-rich materials that support growth and sensory development.

2-3.5 years

Mātiako

Mātiako is a vibrant space where toddlers are encouraged to engage in imaginative play and develop early communication skills. Learning experiences are designed to foster social interaction, independence, and creativity, with a focus on building emotional awareness.

3.5 - 5 years

Puāwai

In Puāwai, older children prepare for the transition to school. Here, they explore literacy, numeracy, and self-help skills, all while developing emotional resilience and social competence. The room is equipped with resources to spark creativity and promote problem-solving.
