My journey as an educator began with a clear vision: to help grow the future leaders of tomorrow.
Along the way, I have been supported by a diverse group of individuals who have inspired and shaped me into the person I am today.

In my spare time, I enjoy being with whānau, listening to music, engaging in the arts, and reconnecting with nature these are the ways I unwind and recharge.

What I truly cherish about my job are the meaningful relationships I’ve built, and the new connections that continue to enrich my path.

About Active Explorers Melville

At Active Explorers Melville, we’re all about growing confident, capable tamariki through meaningful relationships, cultural pride and a strong sense of community. Our passionate kaiako work alongside whānau to support each child’s unique learning journey and celebrate their individuality.

Our centre is thoughtfully designed with age-appropriate indoor and outdoor areas that spark curiosity and creativity. Located in peaceful Melville, we’re just a stone’s throw from Waikato Hospital, local schools and parks – making drop-offs and pick-ups a breeze.

Inside, our rooms are tailored to different stages of development, helping tamariki learn at their own pace. From gentle sensory play for pēpi to engaging school-prep activities for our older explorers, each day is filled with discovery, fun, and opportunities for whānau to be part of the magic.

Our Spaces

Our centre is light, open and filled with opportunities for play and learning. Each space – indoors and out – is designed to encourage tamariki to explore, imagine, and connect with the world around them. There’s always something new to discover!

0 - 1 year

Kiwi Room

Our littlest learners enjoy a calm, cosy space designed for close connections and sensory exploration. Soft textures, gentle routines, and loving care make this the perfect place for pēpi to feel safe and supported.

Tui Room

In the Tui Room, toddlers are encouraged to explore their independence through messy play, music, and movement. Sharing an outdoor area with the Kiwi Room, they enjoy sand, water play, and time in our very own wharenui.

3–5 years

Puukeko Room

Tamariki in this age group are full of questions and curiosity! In Puukeko, we nurture that energy through creative activities, pretend play and group experiences that help build social confidence and communication skills.

Kea Room

The Kea Room is where learning through play really takes flight. With problem-solving games, group projects, and imaginative play both inside and out, tamariki build key skills while having loads of fun.

Kaakapo Room

Kaakapo gets our tamariki ready for the big step to school. With routines aligned to the New Zealand Curriculum and a focus on collaboration, independence and resilience, our kaiako support each child to shine in their own time and in their own way.
